This meeting was held at the level of the Algeria stand in the presence of Algeria’s Ambassador to Brussels, Mohamed Amina Bencherif, as well as the group’s officials, Sonatrach said Tuesday in a press release.
The talks discussed the development opportunities of a future partnership in green hydrogen, said the same source.
During this meeting, Hachichi presented Algeria’s development strategy in this sector, emphasizing Algeria’s considerable potential.
He also underscored that Algeria, notably through Sonatrach, tend to play key role in the production of green hydrogen, by relying on its vast renewable energy resources, its strategic position and its recognised expertise in energy, making it a leading partner in supplying the European market with this clean energy.
Hachichi presented Sonatrach’s new climate strategy that aims at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the integration of renewable energy and developing solutions to capture carbon in more natural and technological resources.
This strategy aims to achieve a balance between emissions and their absorption by carbon wells, according to the same source.
In this respect, the company “John Cockerill,” specialized in developing technological solutions for renewable energy, particularly in manufacturing electrolysers for green hydrogen production, presented its latest solutions, innovations and services for production, transport, and marketing in this field, added the press release.
