Council of Ministers: Instructions of President Tebboune prioritize citizens’ needs

ALGIERS-The instructions of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, given Sunday at the Council of Ministers, the first to be held after the latest government reshuffle, highlight the absolute priority accorded by the President of the Republic to the socioeconomic needs of the citizen in his presidential program for his second term, according to Mourad Kouachi, economist and university lecturer.

According to Kouachi, these instructions “carry a significant economic and social weight, emphasizing the importance of efficiency and performance in implementing programs and achieving the set goals within the given deadlines, which proves that serving the citizen is at the heart of the President of the Republic’s concerns.”

Accelerating the implementation of the President of the Republic’s program, “which has raised ambitions to a higher level,” will have a positive and direct impact on citizens’ lives. This program notably includes the creation of 450,000 new jobs, the completion of two (02) million housing units, and the ongoing strengthening of infrastructures, including roads, airports, ports, schools and universities.

According to the expert, the sectoral action plans, which the President of the Republic ordered to be presented at the Government meeting and then at the Council of Ministers, in order to diligently begin their implementation on the ground, will have a positive impact on citizens’ standard of living, as these “sectoral programs were carefully elaborated in accordance with a clear, defined and precise vision of the President of the Republic.”

The continuation of major drinking water supply projects, after receiving new equipment for the construction of seawater desalination plants, will help improve the supply of this vital resource across the various provinces of the country, he said.

He also noted that the salaries increase will have a positive impact on the purchasing power of citizens, as will the completion of housing projects.

The economist estimated that the President of the Republic’s program, unveiled during his re-election campaign, contains many major strategic objectives, such as raising the GDP to 400 billion dollars, increasing non-hydrocarbon exports to 30 billion dollars by 2030, creating 20,000 new businesses, and increasing the share of industry in the national economy from 5% to 12%.
