41st Arab Housing, Urban Planning Ministers Council meeting opens in Algiers

ALGIERS- The proceedings of the 41st session of the Arab Council of Housing and Urban Planning Ministers began Tuesday, at the Abdelatif-Rahal International Conference Centre in Algiers, under the chairmanship of Algeria, represented by the minister of Housing, Urban Planning and the City, Mohamed Tarek Belaribi.

The meeting is being held, behind closed doors, on the sidelines of the 8th Arab Housing Conference, opened Tuesday under the high patronage of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, under the slogan "Sustainable Urban Planning and Construction: Challenges and Promising Prospects."

The council, one of the Arab League bodies, is aimed at developing cooperation and coordinating efforts among Arab countries in housing and urban planning, between public and private sectors and Arab investors for the establishment of a joint industries in terms of building materials and equipment, urban planning, and exchange of research and experiences in the field of housing.

At the same time as these two events, a cooperation agreement will be signed between the National Centre for Applied Research in Earthquake Engineering and the Arab Centre for the Prevention of Earthquakes and Other Natural Disasters.

The first Arab-Chinese ministerial meeting on housing and urban development will also be organized on the sidelines of the proceedings.
