Military Football Cup: President of the Republic hands trophy to 1st Military Region team’s captain

ALGIERS-The president of the Republic, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, minister of the National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, handed the trophy of the 51st Military Football Cup to the captain of the 1st Military Region team, who beat in the final the Land Forces team on penalties 5-4 following a 0-0 draw, at the Grouping and Preparation Centre for Military Sports Teams (CREPESM), “Martyr Messaoud Boudjeriou,” in Benaknoun, Algiers.

The President of the Republic, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces, minister of National Defence, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, chaired the kick-off of the game.

The president of the Republic was welcomed to the VIP box of the CREPESM stadium by General Said Chanegriha, the chief of staff of the People’s National Army (PNA), and Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui.

Upon his arrival, the president of the Republic was welcomed by General Said Chanegriha, the chief of staff of the PNA, where he listened to the national anthem while units of the different military forces paid him the honors.

The president of the Republic subsequently greeted the commander of the Republican Guard, the secretary general of the ministry of National Defence, the commanders of the Armed Forces and the National Gendarmerie, the commander of the 1st Military Region, the head of the Army Staff's Employment and Preparation Department and the head of the Military Sports Service.

Later, in the complex’s VIP lounge, in the presence of members of the Government, the advisers to the Presidency of the Republic, and directors and heads of central departments of the ministry of National Defence and the Army Staff of the PNA, President Tebboune followed a detailed presentation on military sports, presented by the head of the Army Staff's Employment and Preparation Department.

President Tebboune also watched, with the audience, a short film about the Center and the results of the military athletes who stood out this sports season, produced by the Information and Communication Department.
