Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour takes floor gold at 2024 Doha World Cup

DOHA – Algeria’s Kaylia Nemour clinched the gold medal on Saturday in the floor exercise at the fourth and final stage of the 2024 Artistic Gymnastics World Cup, running from 17-22 April in Doha, Qatar.

The 17-year-old Algerian secured a score of 13.700, placing her ahead of Britain’s Ruby Evans (13.300) and Spain’s Laura Casabuena (13.233).

In an earlier event, the best Algerian athlete in the 2024 APS poll won the silver medal in the balance beam event.

Nemour scored 13.400, narrowly missing the gold as Ukrainian Anna Lashchevska (13.500) took the top spot. The bronze medal went to the Italian Chiara Barzasi (12.900).

The Algerian champion won a total of three medals in Doha – two gold and one silver – reaffirming her position as a world-class athlete and highlighting her excellent form with less than three months to go until the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
