KIGALI – The Algerian women’s senior tennis team kicked off their Billie Jean King Cup (ex Fed Cup) Group 4 Africa Zone campaign with a 3-0 victory over Angola on Monday in the Pool B opener, as the event runs from 10-15 June 2024 in Kigali, Rwanda.

In the first match, Maria Badache secured a straight-sets victory over Mirian Tuluca (6-0, 6-0).

Amira Benaissa clinched the win for the Algerian side, defeating Martins Gabriela in the second singles match with a score of 6-0, 6-1.

In the doubles, the Algerian pair of Maria Badache and Bouchra Rehab Mebarki swept aside the Angolan duo of Martins Gabriela and Ana Lemos in a 6-0, 6-0 rout.

The Algerian squad is set to face Mozambique in their next tie on Tuesday for the tournament’s second round.
