Former international boxer Mustapha Moussa passes away

ORAN-Former Algerian international boxer Mustapha Moussa, who suffered serious skull injuries following a road accident that occurred nearly three months ago, passed away Saturday in Oran at the age of 62, announced his relatives.

Moussa, who was discharged just over two weeks ago from intensive care at Oran’s “Doctor Benzerdjeb” Hospital University, where he was hospitalized following the accident, was transferred to the province’s military hospital two weeks ago.

The deceased competed in the light-heavyweight class. He was Algeria’s first-ever Olympic medallist after he won the bronze medal at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games in the under 81kg category.

Moussa has under his belt gold medals at Algeria’s World Military Championships in 1982, the 1983 Olympic Games, the 1985 Pan-Arab Games and the 1986 Arab Police Championship, in addition to a silver medal at the 1987 African Games in Nairobi.[/ecr]
