With the participation of 46 athletes (27 males, 19 females) in 15 sports disciplines, Algeria has shown diversity and competitiveness of its representatives in various events, from athletics, gymnastics, box, judo to the nautical sports (rowing, canoe slalom)

In a statement to APS, the chief of the Algerian delegation, Kheirddine Barbari, said that Algeria “shined” in the Olympics thanks to Kaylia Nemour, Imane Khelif and Djamel Sedjati, playing the national anthem in the Paris arenas.

“We have reached our goal by clinching three medals (2 gold, 1 bronze) in Paris. This historical performance, which equals that of Atlanta 1996, was achieved thanks to the athletes’ achievements and the state’s support, which provided our champions with the resources they needed for optimum preparation,” he said.

“The Algerian people should be proud of their athletes who distinguished themselves in these games, notably after the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. I believe that this historical participation will give a new impetus to national sport in anticipation of the upcoming international competitions, including the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States,” he said.[/ecr]
