Paris Olympics: President Tebboune provides unwavering support to athletes

ALGIERS- The minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrahmane Hammad, reiterated Monday, in Algiers, the congratulations to Algerian medal winners at the Paris Olympics 2024, commending the unwavering support of the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to the athletes for many years.

Tebboune, who have been following their progress for many years," the minister said at the Houari Boumediene Airport of Algiers while welcoming the Algerian delegation returning home from France.

The delegation was welcomed in a festive atmosphere, in the presence of several sports figures as well as top civil and military officials.

"I would also like to thank our athletes' technical staff as the good results were also achieved with their contribution, without forgetting those in the backstage, including the administrative and medical staff, who have done an outstanding job," Hammad said.

Algeria wrapped up its participation at the Olympics 2024 with three medals: two gold and one bronze, matching its best historical performance at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Algeria's two gold medals were won by gymnast Kaylia Nemour (in the asymmetric bars) and boxer Imane Khelif (66 kg), while the bronze medal went to the middle-distance runner Djamel Sedjati in the 800m.

Algeria competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics with 46 athletes (27 men and 19 women) in 15 sports disciplines.
