24-year-old Thelaidjia clocked a time of 53.91 in the final, finishing 6th overall. The event was won by Australian Turner James, who set a new world record with a time of 51.54.

“I gave it my all to secure a podium finish, but the race was incredibly fast. Still, I managed to break the African record for the event. I am pleased with my time, but not entirely satisfied with my performance. I learn from every competition and I will keep improving,” said Thelaidjia.
