Paralympic Games /Judo: Algerian Abdelkader Bouamer clinches gold

PARIS- The Algerian para-judoka Abdelkader Bouamer won the gold medal in the (-60 kg - J1) category at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games, defeating, by “Waza-ari,” Iranian Banitaba Khoram Abadi Seyed Meysam in the final held on Thursday at the Champs-de-Mars arena.

To qualify for the final, Bouamer first defeated Thai Vitoon Kongsuk in the 16th round, then Brazilian De Oliveira Elielton in the quarterfinals, and then the Indonesian Junaedi in the semifinals.

Another Algerian para-judoka, Ishak Ouldkouider (-60 kg, J2), will step onto the tatami at the Champs-de-Mars arena this Thursday to attempt to secure the bronze medal against Brazilian Thiego Marquez Da Silva.

With this gold medal, Algeria has increased its total medal count to eight (5 gold, 3 bronze) since the beginning of the 2024 Paralympic Games.[/ecr]
