ALGIERS- The Algerian delegation participating in the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, which wrapped up Sunday evening in France, returned to Algiers on Tuesday, crowned with eleven medals, including six gold.

The Algerian delegation was welcomed at Houari Boumediene International Airport by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Abderrahmane Hammad, and the Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women's Affairs, Kaoutar Krikou, as well as the athletes' families.

Algeria wrapped up its participation in the 17th Paralympic Games with a harvest of eleven (11) medals: six gold and five bronze.

The six gold medals were grabbed by Athmani Skander Djamil (400m and 100m, T13), Safia Djelal (seated shot put, F57), Abdelkader Bouamer (para-judo -60 kg, J1), Nassima Saïfi (discus throw F57) and Brahim Guendouz Kayak (para-canoe, 200m KL3).

The five bronze medals were won by Nassima Saifi (shot put/F57), Ahmed Mehideb (Club/F32), Hamri Lynda (Long Jump/F12), Ouldkouider Ishak (para-judo: -60kg/J2) and Hocine Bettir (para-powerlifting): 65kg.

With 26 athletes (18 men and 8 women ), Algeria concluded its participation in the 17th Paralympic Games at the top of the Arab and African levels and at an honorable 25th place worldwide out of 186 countries.
