Cooperation agreement to develop sport terminology glossary, a first in Algeria and Arab world

ALGIERS- A cooperation and partnership agreement was signed on Tuesday, in Algiers, between the High Arabic Language Council (HCLA), represented by its president Salah Belaïd, and the Higher School of Sports Sciences and Technologies (ESSTS) in Dely Ibrahim, represented by its director Rachid Benziane, concerning the development of a draft glossary of sports terminology and its rules, a first in Algeria and in the Arab world.

The signing ceremony took place in the presence of officials from the National Institute of Higher Education for Youth Executives, representatives from the Civil Protection sector and the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as teachers and researchers.

The project aims to develop a specialized glossary for unifying sports terminology in Arabic, French and English, as well as to define the rules governing each sports discipline, for the benefit of the sports elite, physical education institutes and the Algerian School, all cycles included, as well as specialists and the general public.

 

The glossary will cover the various sports disciplines recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), collecting and explaining them comprehensively, accompanied by all the rules governing each discipline.
