2024 African Rowing Championships: Algeria finishes competition with 24 medals, including two gold

CAIRO- The Algerian men’s and women’s team harvested 24 medals (2 gold, 9 silver and 13 bronze) at the African U23 Rowing Championships (juniors and seniors) which wrapped up Monday in El Alamein, in Egypt.

This harvest has enabled the Algerians to rank 3rd at the overall ranking of the participating nations, while Egypt (host country) won the continental title with 22 medals (13 gold, 7 silver and 2 bronze), and Tunisia finished second with 17 medals (8 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze).

During the classic rowing events, the Algerian team won 19 medals (2 gold, 7 silver and 10 bronze), before adding 5 others (2 silver and 3 bronze) in the sea rowing events.

The two gold medals were grabbed by Sabria Boukhous in the lightweight single sculls (U23) and the duo Feriel Zitouni and Sabria Boukhous, crowned in the women’s double (U23).
