At Algeria's request, Security Council holds high-level meeting on Palestine  

 

NEW YORK (UN)-At Algeria's request, the Security Council is holding a high-level meeting on the Palestinian question on Friday, on the sidelines of the general debate of the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly (GA).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad, Ahmed Attaf will address the meeting, scheduled for 3 p.m. (8 p.m. Algerian time).

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will present a comprehensive overview of developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and the Middle East in general, particularly following the escalation of operations by the Zionist occupier.

The meeting will be attended by Security Council members and high-level delegations.

Since October 7, 2023, the Zionist occupying forces have been waging a devastating aggression against the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the martyrdom of over 41,000 people and the wounding of over 96,000, and has caused an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe with the displacement of over 85% of the area's population, i.e. 1.9 million people.[/ecr]
