Attaf gave a speech before the representatives of national bodies and institutions, heads of diplomatic missions and representatives of international and regional organisations accredited in Algeria, on the occasion of the Algerian Diplomacy Day which coincides with Algeria’s adherence to the UN on 8 October 1962.
In this respect, the minister said that “the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, gave firm instructions so that defending the Palestinian cause is a top priority for Algeria since the beginning of its term in the Security Council,” adding that “Algeria will continue calling for meetings and initiatives to ensure that the UN Security Council and General Assembly assume their responsibilities towards the Palestinian people and all nations and peoples in the region affected by Zionist aggressions.”
“The extermination war that the Palestinian people are facing in Gaza marked its first anniversary yesterday, in the face of the international community's inability to bring justice to these oppressed people,” Attaf lamented.
“Such a situation can only directly contribute to the worsening of the genocidal war and its expansion to the West Bank, amid the frenzied Zionist escalation that spares no one in the region: neither Syria, nor Lebanon, Yemen or Iran.”
“This situation can only fuel the arrogance and tyranny of the occupier that continues, as he pleases, its crimes with total impunity,” the minister added, warning against the expansion of the Zionist crime and the risk of unrest in the region.[/ecr]
