ALGIERS-The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib, participated Monday, in Cairo (Egypt), in the Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs said in a press release.

“The State Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Sofiane Chaib,  took part on Monday, in Cairo (Egypt), in the ministerial conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza, held on 2 December 2024, at the invitation of the President of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, with the participation of the United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General and President of the UN Sustainable Development Group, Amina Mohammed, as well as high-level representatives of brotherly and friendly countries and international organizations,” said the press release.

According to the same source, this ministerial meeting is “an opportunity to reiterate Algeria’s position in favour of an urgent and comprehensive international response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, following the brutal Zionist aggression and highlight the need of an immediate ceasefire, while facilitating the delivery of humanitarian aid and reinforcing the role of the UNRWA, enabling it to ensure the continuity of its vital missions, in addition to putting an end to violations of international law and crimes of discrimination and forced displacement.

This meeting also allowed “reaffirming Algeria’s firm commitment to the Palestinian people in defending their legitimate rights and contributing to efforts aimed at ending the Zionist occupation in the Palestinian and Arab occupied territories, as well as the return of refugees in order to enable the Palestinian people to exercise their right to self-determination and establish a fully sovereign independent State, with El Qods Esharif as its capital,” concluded the press release.  [/ecr]
