Several energy projects will be carried out in Jijel, including a seawater desalination plant, a solar power plant, the connection of four communes to the gas network and the construction of a kerosene fuel tank at Farhat-Abbas airport," the minister told reporters on the sidelines of the inspection of an electric transformer project (60/220/400 kilovolt) in Ouled Yahia Khedrouche.

Under the order of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in the latest Council of Ministers meeting that focused on the construction of water desalination plants in all coastal provinces, Jijel will benefit from a plant in Achouat.

The project design and implementation will be carried out by the national electricity and gas group SONELGAZ, in collaboration with experts in the field, according to the minister.

Arkab also said that a power plant project with a capacity of 100 megawatt over an area of 200 hectares would start as soon as the relevant land is selected.

The project will be carried out under a programme that includes all provinces of the country.
