Attaf meets in Addis Ababa with Madagascan counterpart

ALGIERS- Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf held talks Thursday, in Addis Ababa, with his Madagascan counterpart, Rasata Rafaravavitafika, on the sidelines of the second day of the 44th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council, the ministry said a statement.

During this meeting, the two sides “examined ways to cement the longstanding ties of cooperation and solidarity between Algeria and Madagascar,” and agreed to “reactivate the bilateral mechanisms by starting preparation for the upcoming session of the Joint Commission” and to “boost the bilateral political consultations,” the same source said.

The two ministers further underscored “the importance of bolstering human capabilities and tapping into human resources as part of the bilateral cooperation, through granting scholarships in higher education and vocational training,” the statement added.

Attaf and his Madagascan counterpart exchanged views on the current situation in their regions, the statement wrapped up.
