Türkiye supports Algeria's efforts at UN Security Council to end Zionist massacres

ALGIERS- The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs at the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye‎, Fuat Oktay, said Thursday that his countries supported Algeria's efforts, as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, to put an end to the Zionist massacres against the population of Gaza.

Following an audience granted to him by the president of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Oktay said he rose during the meeting "the ways to reach an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza."

"I have conveyed to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune messages from his Turkish counterpart, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on the issue and he asked me to convey messages to President Erdogan," he said.

"We back Algeria's efforts as part of its capacity as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and we reiterate our joint action to resolve the issue."

"We have common objectives: to put an end to the Zionist massacres, reach a ceasefire, continue the shipment of humanitarian aid, immediately implement the decisions of the International Court of Justice (ICJ), condemn the perpetrators of war crimes, especially Benyamin Netanyahou, and contribute to a peaceful and definitive solution, guaranteeing the recognition of a free and independent Palestinian State with al Quds as capital."

On bilateral cooperation, Oktay stressed "the great importance" of the audience granted to him by the president of the Republic, saying: We are here as part of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye."

"We have conveyed the greetings of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to his brother President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, with whom we have tackled issues of common interest."

Oktay recalled the agreements signed during the exchange of presidential visits between the two countries, which have led to the "association of businessmen and the civil society of both countries for the implementation of the agreements."

The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye welcomed the level of bilateral cooperation, in its economic section.

He underlined that the level of cooperation is shown through "the volume of investments and trade between the two countries, which are working to reach USD10 billion in all fields in the future."
