Energy: Arkab receives members of El Bina Movement parliamentary group

ALGIERS- Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, received on Sunday in Algiers, members of El Bina parliamentary group at the People's National Assembly (APN) to learn about their concerns related to the sector, according to a statement from the ministry.

The parliamentary delegation comprised Chairman of El Bina Movement parliamentary group, Abdelkader Berriche, and MPs Kamel Benkhelouf (Algiers) and Djedou Rabah (Médéa) from the same party.

On this occasion, the MPs hailed the success of the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit of Heads of State and Government, held in Algiers on 2 March, according to the same source.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss a number of issues, including current and future energy and mining projects, such as the "2000 MW" and "Solar 1000" photovoltaic solar power plant projects, as well as the project to connect the country's northern electricity networks to the South, according to the source.

The meeting also focused on the development strategy in the Energy and Mining sector, in addition to projects in the hydrocarbons and mining sectors in general.

Moreover, "the MPs expressed their gratitude to the Minister for giving them this opportunity to obtain detailed information and explanations on the Energy and Mines sector," the ministry concluded.[/ecr]
