3rd International Agriculture Fair opens in Mostaganem

MOSTAGANEM- Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Youcef Cherfa, chaired Monday, in Mostaganem, the opening ceremony of the 3rd International Agriculture Fair, marked by the participation of 300 Algerian and foreign exhibitors.

The minister emphasized in his opening speech at this economic event "the interest that the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, attaches to the agricultural sector as a priority, due to its strategic and economic importance".

 

Cherfa underlined "the commitments made by the President of the Republic to developing the agricultural sector and ensuring self-sufficiency, particularly in strategic areas such as cereals, legumes, and oils, in the coming years.”

The minister toured the exhibition stands of this four-day event, held at the Mostaland garden in Mostaganem, which is themed "Agricultural technology and climate change" and, according to the organizers, addresses the climate challenges facing the agricultural sector, including drought and global warming.

According to the National Chamber of Agriculture, the event’s organizer, the Mostaganem International Agricultural Fair is considered as  strategic platform for stakeholders in the agricultural sector with a view to finding effective and sustainable solutions.

 

This platform is meant to train and raise awareness among the players of the agricultural sector, and to gather representatives of start-ups and academic establishments, manufacturers of irrigation equipment and farmers, by offering them a favourable space to build partnership relations and exchange experiences, in order to develop the sector in Algeria and strengthen its capacities.
