ALGIERS-The 6th General Census of Population and Housing was launched on Sunday, using, for the first time since the independence, new technologies to provide data and socio-economic indicators that enable taking appropriate decisions.

The launch of the operation was given at Aissat-Idir Square (municipality of Sidi M'hamed) by Minister of Digitization and Statistics Hocine Cherhabil, and Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning Brahim Merad, in the presence of the Wali (governor) of Algiers Rabehi Abdennour.

This census, which is scheduled from September 25 to October 9, 2022, is of “strategic importance” since the provided data will faithfully reflect the degree of application on the ground of the reforms undertaken by the State at all levels in past recent years, particularly within the framework of the implementation of international commitments, like the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030.
