[ecr] Co-chairing with Minister of the Knowledge Economy, Startups and Micro-enterprises Yacine El Mahdi Oualid a meeting on the occasion of the International Day for Older Persons, Krikou stressed the special importance given by the State to this section of the society through a national policy and a series of laws that protect them, ensure their participation in the public life and work on the enhancement of their experiences.
Pointing out the “experiences and achievements” of older persons in various fields, the minister emphasized the necessity of highlighting their contribution to the sustainable development process and making it a model for the generations.”
For his part, Yacine El Mahdi Oualid affirmed that “Algeria is among the richest countries in terms of craft industry, hence the need to protect this authentic cultural legacy from disappearance.”
In this respect, he underscored the efforts made by the different concerned sector in terms of accompanying craftsmen among the elderly in the process of transmission of their know-how.
The meeting was marked by the participation of representatives of national authorities and concerned sectors.
A presentation was given on the efforts made by the State in terms of legal protection as well as social and medical care for the older persons. [/ecr]
