Road accidents: 45 deaths, 1868 injuries in one week

ALGIERS- A total of 45 people lost their lives and 1868 others were injured in 1419 road accidents that occurred nationwide from 30 July to 5 August, the Civil Protection said on Tuesday.

[ecr]  The heaviest toll was recorded in the province of Tebessa with fives deaths and 20 injuries in 16 road accidents, said the source.

The units of the Civil Protection intervened 2435 times to extinguish 1706 urban, industrial and other fires, the most important of which were recorded in the provinces of Algiers (331 accidents), Blida (133) and Annaba (123), said the source, adding that, during the same period, the units of the Civil Protection conducted 5337 various interventions to rescue 395 people in danger and to execute 4672 assistance operations.
