Road accidents: 35 dead, 1415 injured in one week

ALGIERS - 35 people died and 1415 were injured in 1131 road accidents across the country between the period of 24 and 30 December 2023, according to a Civil Protection report published on Tuesday.

The heaviest toll was recorded in the province of Sétif, with 4 people killed and 62 injured in 49 road accidents.

In addition, the Civil Protection units carried out 878 interventions to extinguish 527 fires, particularly urban and industrial fires, the worst of which were recorded in the wilayas of Algiers (64 fires), Tlemcen (29) and Blida (27), added the same source.

According to the same report, 5,761 interventions were carried out by Civil Protection units during the same period to rescue 600 people in danger, as well as 4,940 other assistance operations. [/ecr]
