ALGIERS- forty-five (45) people died and 1778 others were injured in 1470 road accidents that occurred from 7 to 13 July across the country, the Civil Protection said Tuesday in its weekly toll.

The heaviest toll was recorded in Skikda province with 4 deaths and 51 injuries, in 32 road accidents, said the same source.

The Civil Protection units intervened for the extinction of 1893 urban, industrial and other fires, mostly in Algiers with (200 fires), Constantine (113).

 A total of 5744 interventions were conducted by the Civil Protection units during the same period to rescue 390 people in dangerous situations, and to carry out 5147 diverse assistance operations.[/ecr]
