While chairing the opening of the 26th National Quran Week, the Minister said that "the work carried out by imams helps to preserve the country's security and peace, and to thwart any attempt to undermine our country."
"The new Algeria, which is committed to fighting all forms of corruption, has introduced all the political and legislative measures needed to make public life more ethical and to achieve justice and the rule of law, which has helped to spread confidence and peace in society," he said.
The minister further highlighted “the pioneering role of the people who teach Quran and their efforts in a variety of fields, in conjunction with other actors, to spread ethics in society, must not be ignored.”
Moreover, Belmehdi stressed that his ministry was working to fulfil the State's commitments to the Holy Quran, in conjunction with all sectors of society and the frameworks, programmes and structures of the religious affairs sector, which are being developed to help attract a large number of reciters and memorizers of the Holy Quran, who have been awarded in national and international events and competitions.
