Youth and Sports Minister Abderrahmane Hammad signed the membership document in the presence of the President of the Higher Youth Council (CSJ), Mustapha Hidaoui, and the Director of Women and Youth Affairs at the African Union Commission, Ngwenya Prudence Nonkululeko, during a session on the "1 Million Next Level" initiative, held as part of the activities of the fourth African Youth Forum in Oran, with the participation of representatives from member African countries.
In a press statement on the sidelines of this ceremony, the minister noted that Algeria's membership represents a contribution to Algerian and African youth.
He further said that Algeria has consistently been at the forefront of signing agreements that promote development and growth.
The Higher Youth Council president stated that “joining this initiative would help track progress toward sustainable development goals.”
He also pointed out “Algeria's significant advances in education, employment and training,” highlighting the country's strong performance metrics in these areas.
Speaking about the African Union Commission's "1 Million Next Level" initiative launched in 2021, Ngwenya explained that it targets meaningful transformation across five key sectors, spanning education, employment, training, and healthcare.
The same official applauded Algeria's membership in this initiative, noting that Algeria serves as a model in several areas, especially in education.
