Cinema: holding conferences devoted to sector, setting clearly defined funding mechanisms

ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune gave instructions, in the meeting of the Council of ministers that he chaired on Monday, to hold conferences devoted to the sector of cinema by involving the sector’s actors and professionals and to set mechanisms for the financing of cinematographic projects, in order to enrich the draft bill on cinema industry.

[ecr]  It was decided to delay the draft bill on cinema industry to enrich it, by taking into account five directives, including the holding of conferences devoted to the sector of cinema by involving the sector’s Algerian actors and professionals, both inside and outside the country, according to a statement of the Presidency of the Republic at the end of the meeting of the Council of ministers.

“The new law must be a real motivation and give the capacity to ensure a cinematographic production according to a creative vision which restores the prestigious image of Algeria,” said the source.

“The law must take account of the different transformations and evolutions in the cinematographic field, and meet the expectations of the young people wishing to specialize in this field,” ordered the President of the Republic, stressing the necessity of “setting clearly defined mechanisms to finance cinema projects, in accordance with the laws of the Republic.”

“The new law on the artist must include mechanisms dealing with the social aspects of all the Algerian creators in recognition of their contribution and the beautiful image they give about Algeria,” stressed President Tebboune.   [/ecr]
