Bill on film industry fits with Algeria's general policy

ALGIERS- Minister of Culture and Arts Soraya Mouloudji said Tuesday, in Algiers, that the bill on film industry was aimed at "establishing a legislative system that fits with the country's general policy, in its economic aspect, and encouraging investment in different vital sectors, including Culture."

Presenting the substance of the bill in a plenary session at the People's National Assembly (Lower House of Parliament), Mouloudji said the bill was intended for "the establishment of an appropriate legislative system for the supervision of film industry-related production and services."

The bill includes "provisions stipulating the industrial nature of cinema, as part of the new economic approach of culture based on the development and promotion of cultural industries through the attraction of capital, which contributes to the creation of jobs."

"The bill fits with the goals of the state's general policy in its economic aspect, intends to encourage investment in various vital sectors, including cultural industries, especially film industry, and aims to promote cinema as an activity, as stipulated in the law 11-03 of 17 February 2011."
