The closing ceremony, which was attended by the Qatari Ambassador to Algeria, Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, representatives of the Speaker of the Council of the Nation (Upper House of Parliament), the President of the National Council for Human Rights (CNDH), Abdelmadjid Zaalani, and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Algeria, crowned Slimani Mouncef Belkacem, winner of “My First Book” Prize in the Arabic language category for his novel “Aaliyat Al-Qash” and Amel Abdallah as the winner in the Amazigh language category for her novel “Twajat dou Bajou,” while the foreign languages category was not awarded.
The Youth Book Prize “My First Book,” which rewarded the first young authors under 35 who published their first book in 2024, across all literary genres, consists of an honorary certificate and a financial reward of DZD 500,000.
The committee received “81 creative works since the opening of applications in various literary genres,” including thoughts, poetry, novels, short stories and essays. Most of the works were novels in Arabic and Tamazight, displaying a “homogeneous level with diverse themes that blend realism and fantasy.”
In this respect, the State of Qatar's stand won the “Best Stand” award of the fair, and its organizers were honoured. The stand drew visitors with its unique design, inspired by elements of Qatari culture and rich heritage, while incorporating modern technologies and innovation, beautifully blending tradition and modernity, according to the award organizers.
