The agreement was signed by the Director General of CNAS, Nadir Kouadria and the Director General of the Brussels University Hospital, Renaud Witmeur, under the supervision of the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security, Faycal Bentaleb, and the Ambassador of Belgium to Algeria, Jean-Jacques Quairiat.
Speaking on this occasion, Bentaleb said that this partnership is part of “the Algerian authorities ’efforts to improve the quality of medical care for citizens,” stressing that it tends to strengthen medical collaboration and exchange between the two countries and to benefit from the advances in medical expertise in Belgium, in addition to acquiring medical skills in various fields, including paediatrics, oncology, and cardiac surgery.
“The agreement includes clauses related to training and technology transfer, through the implementation of a joint action program in coordination with the health sector and the National Commission for Cancer Prevention and Control, which will focus initially, on nuclear medicine, oncology and paediatrics,” he added.
In this respect, the minister highlighted the national efforts made in the health sector, “which continue to be strengthened by achievements reflecting the State's will and its commitment to guarantee quality health care, as evidenced by important developments in the health field.”
For his part, the Belgian ambassador welcomed the bilateral relations, stressing the importance of this agreement which is likely to contribute to strengthening the exchange of expertise between the two parties in this area.
The Belgian delegation, representing the Brussels University Hospital in the signing ceremony of this agreement, will visit the paediatric medical-surgical clinic of Bou-Ismaïl (Tipasa) and the University Hospital Centre “Mohamed-Lamine Debaghine” in Algiers in order to learn about the Algerian experience and the available resources in this field.[/ecr]
