CAIRO, Dec 2 (KUNA) -- Egypt and the United Nations appealed to all countries and organizations partaking in the Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response to Gaza to mobilize all required sources for humanitarian and relief aid for the Strip.
Speaking in a joint conference with Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations Amina Mohammad at the end of the conference held under the auspices of Egypt's President Abdelfattah Al-Sisi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatti said humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has been constantly aggravating.
He referred to Israeli occupation crimes, and violations of international law and international humanitarian law, in addition to targeting civilians.
He highlighted spreading epidemics, the lack of medical supplies and the restriction of delivering humanitarian aid in the Strip due to Israeli occupation procedures.
He said the halt of aggression on Gaza and the humanitarian aid access to the Strip have become imperative.
Egypt's top diplomat affirmed that settling the Palestinian cause is the essence of stability in "our region", and meeting legitimate aspirations of Palestinian people to establish their independent state, including Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, is paramount.
The minister called for fully recognizing Palestinian statehood and giving it full UN membership, within the framework of a comprehensive settlement of the cause.
Meanwhile, Mohammad said Gazans have been suffering much, referring to those killed and displaced in the Strip.
She pointed to the violation of hospitals and houses, and the targeting of schools, stating this runs counter to international humanitarian law.
She stressed the necessity of reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and humanitarian aid access as well as infrastructure rebuilding. (end)
