KUWAIT, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- The State of Kuwait, represented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosts on Wednesday the 2025 Global Humanitarian Overview (GHO), under sponsorship of Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Al-Yahya.
Tomorrow's ceremony, themed "Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities," is set to be launched by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). It will be attended by the Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Tuesday that tomorrow's event would shed light on global humanitarian crises and nations' plans to respond to these issues crises in 2025.
It will focus on boosting joint action in humanitarian diplomacy that constitutes the basic pillar of Kuwait's foreign policy, aimed at tapering humanitarian hardships in stricken states and communities due to armed conflicts and mounting natural catastrophes.
Kuwait's hosting of this significant event for the first time reflects the strategic partnership with the United Nations, illustrating the State of Kuwait's unwavering belief in multi-party international action, its commitment to promote humanitarian causes and boosting global cooperation in the face of mounting humanitarian challenges.
Choosing the State of Kuwait as the venue for the humanitarian event affirms its eminent international status, its leading role at the level of humanitarian action and its efforts to enhance the partnership with the United Nations and international partners to achieve global humanitarian goals, the ministry statement stated further.
It has added that the State of Kuwait through the hosting of the event affirms necessity of international cooperation in the face of humanitarian crises throughout the world and coordination of relief aid delivered by the UN in stricken regions.
The State of Kuwait, it has added, calls upon all states to join these efforts to bolster peace and security in the globe. It also stresses on the necessity of humanitarian action through innovative and flexible strategies to face future challenges and enhance communities' abilities to recover from crises. (end)
