BRUSSELS, Dec 3 (KUNA) -- Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of Oman started on Tuesday an official State visit to Belgium on Tuesday.
According to the official website of the Belgian Monarchy, the purpose of the visit is to strengthen relations between the two countries, with a focus on cooperation in the fields of ports, energy, defence and space partnerships between Belgium and Oman.
After the official welcome at Place des Palais in Brussels, the Sultan, alongside the King and Queen of Belgium, attended a working lunch during which ways to enhance bilateral relations were discussed.
Sultan Haitham bin Tariq also held a formal meeting with Alexander De Croo, Prime Minister of Belgium, during which areas of investment and economic cooperation were discussed, along with ways to enhance them to serve mutual interests.
The two sides exchanged views on international developments and global changes, as well as investment opportunities available in various sectors.
According to the official program, the Sultan will visit Brussels City Hall and meet with the city's mayor before concluding the visit with a state dinner at the Castle of Laeken.
On Wednesday, King Philippe will accompany Sultan Haitham to Antwerp, where the activities will focus on ports. The visit will conclude in Waterloo with a musical event at the Royal Music Chapel of Elisabeth. (end) arn.mb
