BEIRUT, Jan 28 (KUNA) -- The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that 24 people were injured in Israeli occupation airstrikes on the city of Nabatieh and the town of Zawtar in southern Lebanon, two days after extending the ceasefire agreement until February 18.
In a press statement, the ministry's emergency operations center said that an Israeli drone fired a guided missile on a pickup truck on the Nabatieh-Fawqa highway, injuring several people who were present at the scene, in addition to burning a number of cars parked on the street.
It added that another airstrike was carried out by the Israeli occupation forces on the town of Zawtar, wounding four people.
"The Israeli enemy carried out a brutal aggression this evening against our people and our safe areas and violated the ceasefire agreement without justification and targeted civilians in their homes," Mayor of Nabatieh al-Fawqa Yasser Ghandour told the national news agency. The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated Monday that 26 people were killed and at least 150 others were wounded as a result of the Israeli occupation forces attacks on residents returning to their villages and towns in southern Lebanon.
The Israeli occupation forces have repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement that went into effect on November 27. (end) fz.ibi
