WASHINGTON, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he held "productive" telephone call negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Ukraine and different issues.
Writing on Truth Social platform, Trump said "I just had a lengthy and highly productive phone call with President Vladimir Putin of Russia. We had discussed Ukraine, the Middle East, artificial intelligence and other subjects".
Trump said they agreed that they want to stop the "millions of deaths" taking place in the War with Russia/Ukraine.
Trump went to say that they agreed to work together, very closely, including visiting each other's Nations. He added "we have also agreed to have our respective teams start negotiations immediately, and we will begin by calling President Zelenskyy, of Ukraine, to inform him of the conversation, something which I will be doing right now," Trump wrote.
US president said he asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio, head of Central Intelligence Agency John Ratcliffe, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff to lead US mediation negotiations between the two sides.
This is the first direct call held Putin and Trump since 2022. (end) amm.mmj.hm
