WASHINGTON, Feb 12 (KUNA) -- US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he held a good telephone call with Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the ongoing war.
"I just spoke to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine. The conversation went very well. He, like President Putin, wants to make PEACE," Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
"We discussed a variety of topics having to do with the War, but mostly, the meeting that is being set up on Friday in Munich, where Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio will lead the Delegation.
"I am hopeful that the results of that meeting will be positive. It is time to stop this ridiculous war where there has been massive and totally unnecessary death and destruction."
Meanwhile, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said in a news briefing that she spoke with the president after his calls with Russian and Ukrainian presidents, adding he confirmed that the conversations were good and "positive".
She quoted Trump as saying that his administration is fully committed to signing a peace deal to end the war between Russia and Ukraine forever. (end)
