CAIRO, Feb 13 (KUNA) -- The 115th meeting of the Arab League's Economic and Social Ministerial Council began on Thursday with desire to further expand cooperation amongst Arab countries.
The meeting will feature discussions on the Grand Arab free trade zone, developments on the unified Arab customs union and investments in the region.
Outcomes of previous economic and social meetings as well as follow-ups on the Arab strategic water security strategy and meeting challenges of sustainable development of 2030 would also be on the agenda in addition to issues pertaining to support of small-to-medium size enterprises in Palestine and the Arab unified economic report of 2025.
Other issues pertaining to infrastructural development in Yemen, climate change and agricultural production, air cargo, transport of goods and emergency plans for natural and manmade disasters are amongst other many other important issues on the agenda.
Sports events such the Saudi hosting of the FIFA World Cup 2034 and Moroccan co-hosting of the FIFA 2030 World Cup alongside Spain, and Portugal will be discussed.
Kuwait is represented at the meeting by acting assistant undersecretary for economic affairs at the Ministry of Finance Talal Al-Nemesh. (end)
