WASHINGTON, Feb 13 (KUNA) - US President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order ordering his administration to determine the value of tariffs imposed in different countries on US imports in preparation for imposing similar tariff on them in what he called "reciprocal tariffs." During the signing of the executive order at the White House, Trump said "countries that tax US goods will be charged reciprocal tariffs." Adding, "Meaning whatever countries charge the United States of America, we will charge them no more, no less. In other words, they charge us a tax or tariff and we charge them the exact same tax or tariff, very simple." He also mentioned, "In almost all cases they are charging us vastly more than we charge them, but these days are over." Trump had previously imposed tariffs on Chinese imports by 10-percent, 25-percent on Canada and Mexico, but he stopped those tariffs over an agreement with both countries mainly related to controlling their borders with the US to prevent the flow of illegal immigrants and drugs.
He has also imposed 25-percent tariffs on steel and aluminum imports expected to take effect next month. (end) rsr.aq
