KUWAIT, Feb 16 (KUNA) -- Kuwait on Sunday reaffirmed keenness to fulfill its international obligations and promote human rights.
This came during the Permanent National Committee on International Human Right Law's first meeting in 2025, headed by Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights Affairs Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Al-Sabah.
The committee reviewed 2024 achievements, which reflected Kuwait's commitment to its international pledges, including the discussion of the sixth periodic national report on the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), amongst other reports.
The committee also discussed its work program for the year 2025, including preparations to submit and discuss its report on the fourth universal periodic review, which highlights its efforts to promote and protect human rights in line with Kuwait's 2035 development vision.
The Committee held a meeting with representatives of human rights agencies in recognition of the importance of partnership between the government and civil society in implementing international pledges, especially related to protecting the rights of women, children and persons with disabilities.
