BEIRUT, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- Lebanese Army Command announced on Tuesday that it had deployed military units in towns and border sites south of the Litani River, in coordination with the five-member committee to supervise the ceasefire agreement and the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) after the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces.
This came in a press release by the command saying that the military units were deployed in the towns of Al-Abbasiya, Al-Majidiya, and Kafr Kila in the Marjayoun area in the eastern sector.
It stressed the need for citizens to adhere to the directives of the military units deployed in the southern regions to make room for completing the engineering inspection works, opening roads, and treating unexploded landmines and suspicious objects as quickly as possible and to preserve their lives and safety.
Under the ceasefire agreement, brokered in November, Israeli occupation troops were granted 60 days to withdraw from southern Lebanon, an extension as granted until February 18. (pickup previous) ayb.bb
