RIYADH, Feb 18 (KUNA) -- Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov said his talks with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Riyadh on Tuesday led to an agreement on naming ambassadors in one another's capitals.
"We have agreed to create the conditions necessary for convening a leaders' summit meeting," he said, noting that the United States showed better understanding of the Russian stand.
The two sides agreed to hold regular consultations on Ukraine, he added, expressing gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for hosting the talks.
On his part, Secretary Rubio highlighted the need for Russia and Ukraine to make concessions in order to end the conflict.
He confirmed that Washington and Moscow agreed to reinstate their respective diplomatic missions in each other and set up high level teams to help advance the talks on Ukraine war.
Both sides agreed also to engage in talks on resumption of economic cooperation once the Ukrainian war ends, Rubio added.
He appreciated the great role the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia plays on the international arena. (Pickup previous) kns.ams.gb
