By Abdullah Buqus KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- A seminar in Malaysia on Wednesday pushed forward with plans to form a central Islamic endowments body, also known as Awqaf, given its increasing significance towards sustainable development. The seminar, sponsored by Kuwait's Awqaf General Secretariat, in the Malaysian capital is tantamount to a launchpad for the formation of a digital Awqaf body, its chief organizer Reham Bukhawa told KUNA, citing such a measure as aiming to regulate and organize the process.
Such a move should also ensure financial transparency and outline with clarity the notion of digital Islamic endowments, the participants collectively agreed, citing the launch of campaigns to generate awareness about the measure before it comes to fruition. (end) aab.nam
