KUWAIT, Feb 19 (KUNA) - Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs held on Wednesday an educational forum entitled (Women in the Security Sector.. Inspiring Achievements and Renewed Aspirations) under the patronage and attendance of Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.
This forum enhances Kuwait's role and efforts in human rights, which emerged from the Committee for Monitoring the Development Plan and the Government's Action Program, in cooperation with the National Committee for Implementing Security Council Resolution No. 1325 entitled Women, Peace and Security.
In a press statement on the sidelines of the forum, Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah said that women have a vital and essential role in all fields, especially the security sector.
In turn, the Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Resident Coordinator in Kuwait, Ghada Al-Taher, praised the valuable efforts made by the Government of Kuwait and women leaders in the security sector and the GCC countries, and their commitment and wonderful efforts in promoting peace and security.
She also noted that Kuwait, along with other GCC countries, has shown remarkable progress in enhancing the role of women in the security sector, as the launch of the National Action Plan to implement Security Council Resolution 1325 in Kuwait in 2021 is a fundamental step towards institutionalizing security policies that respond to women's empowerment.
