DEAD SEA-Jordan, Feb 19 (KUNA) -- Kuwait Minister of State for Communications Affairs Omar Saud Abdulaziz Al-Omar said the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) is preparing for launching and index for measuring the advancement of digital economy in its member states.
The DCO works to improve the infrastructure of digital economy of its members and the economies that are willing to join it, he told KUNA and Kuwait TV on Wednesday after assuming the presidency of the organization for the coming year.
Al-Omar noted that coordination was underway with Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Jasem Al-Budaiwi to activate cooperation between the organization and the GCC member economies in this regard.
Kuwait Vision 2035 attaches great importance to digital services and the employment of the world's latest technologies, he affirmed.
He commended the meeting between Jordanian Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan and the ministers of communication of the DCO member countries where the latter affirmed commitment to backing the organization's drive for creating a sustainable and comprehensive digital environment.
The DCO ministers convened a meeting in camera to review the achievements made by the Organization in the past four years and its strategy for 2025-2028, he added.
On his part, Kuwait Ambassador to Jordan Hamad Al-Merri said his country take great strides towards leveraging the digital economy and advancing international cooperation in this regard.
Kuwait, as a co-founder of the organization, assumed its presidency today, he said, voicing confidence in the ability of the Kuwaiti team to lead the DCO in the coming year, he said in similar statements to KUNA and Kuwait TV. (pickup previous)
