MUSANDAM, Oman Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Kumzar Village, the northernmost province of Oman, receives a great attraction for tourists due to its beautiful climate and the diversity of its natural, coastal, archaeological and recreational sites.
The village is distinguished by its own "Kumzari" dialect, which is a mixture of several languages: Arabic, Persian, Hindi, Portuguese, Balochi, English, and Turkish, and is spoken only by its people who are professional fishermen.
This intermingling reflects how Kamzar over centuries have received people from east to west and from west to east who settle there for a while then leave, and so they leave some of their linguistic terms, that were used in forming the Kumzari dialect.
Its residents depend mainly on fishing, as well as being a popular destination for nature lovers and divers due to its clear waters and diversity of marine creatures. (end)
