CAIRO, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- President of the Arab Parliament (the legislative arm of the Arab League) Mohammad Al-Yamahi reaffirmed outright rejection of attempts to evict the Palestinian people forcibly from their homeland.
The Palestine question continues to be a central issue for all Arab peoples, he said during his meeting with a delegation from the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian National Council (PNC) on Thursday.
Stressing the need of supporting the Palestinians' steadfast struggle against the Israeli occupation regime, Al-Yamahi said, "Any designs aiming to displace the Palestinians - whether from Gaza Strip or the West Bank, or annex their land, or liquidate the Palestine question are totally unacceptable." Al-Yamahi briefed his quests on the recent diplomatic activities by the Arab Parliament and the contacts with regional and international parliamentary organizations to lobby support the fair question of Palestine, according to a statement from the parliament.
"A team from the Arab Parliament is lodging a lawsuit to the International Criminal Court against the Israeli occupation authorities over the recent genocidal acts," he added.
On his part, Ahmad Al-Tamimi, member of the PLO Executive Committee, said, "The ferocious brutalities, being committed against the Palestinians in Gaza Strip or the West Bank, fall in the framework of a larger malicious design to change the demographic status quo in the occupied Palestine." "The PLO pins hope on cooperation with the Arab Parliament, which represents the entire Arab nation, to counter the current challenges and back up the steadfast struggle of the Palestinian people," he pointed out.
The Palestinian delegation handed Al-Yamahi two reports on the human rights violations against the Palestinian people and the situation in the occupied holy city of Jerusalem. (end) mfm.gb
