KUWAIT, Feb 20 (KUNA) -- Kuwait's Major Sergeant Ahmad Farhan Harat and Sergeant Musaad Dhahi Saleh were buried on Thursday in Sulaibikhat Cemetery after they fell martyrs during a military exercise.
The funeral ceremony included Minister of Defense Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Sabah, Undersecretary of Defense Ministry Sheikh Dr. Abdullah Meshal Al-Sabah and Deputy Chief of Kuwait's General Staff Air Vice Marshal Sabah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, along some senior officials of the army and security bodies, and crowds.
"Kuwait's land has embraced two martyrs who sacrificed sincerely and honorably their souls during their duties. Their deaths are a great loss for all of us," Minster of Defense said in a statement. "The Kuwaiti army will permanently remember the two martyrs in recognition of their efforts and sacrifices to serve the homeland," he added.
"Such moments remind us of the great importance of sacrifices offered by the military institution's personnel as they are the pillars of the homeland, he added, urging personnel to continue serious action and sacrifices for the homeland.
He said specialized technical teams, along with the US side, have been formed to know the reasons of the incident, stressing the need of abiding by high standards of safety during the military exercises.
Meanwhile, deputy staff of the General Staff said "we are proud of our sons who did their duties in an honorable and sincere manner", praying to Allah to bestow his mercy upon their souls and bring solace to their families. (end)
